Feast of The Most Holy Trinity

This coming Sunday, the Church celebrates the great feast of The Most Holy Trinity.  This Feast gives us a further insight into God's true nature, which is one of love.  Human language can never fully explain the mystery of God which is beyond our total understanding.  However, Jesus teaches us that, although there is only one God, there are three persons in God - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  So we speak of God as the Trinity of three Persons.  The Father loves the Son and the Son loves the Father, and the Spirit is the love between them.  This love is one of the mysteries of faith and it prompts us to think more deeply about the Holy Trinity. Pope Francis reminds us: "Every time that we make the sign of the cross, we draw closer to the great mystery of the Holy Trinity."

Year 3 Sacrament of First Holy Communion

Tomorrow at 11am the children in Year 3 will be receiving Jesus for the first time through the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at Our Lady and All Saints Church.  We thank Fr. Des, Mrs McCole, Miss Roberston, Mrs Jenkins, Mrs Alcock, the team of catechists, parents and prayer partners who have supported these children on their continued journey of faith. On Monday, Mrs Chamberlain will be coming to school to take photographs of the children first thing in the morning.  Please ensure that children bring their school uniform to get changed into after the photographs.  On Friday 21st June, the staff and catechists have organised a special celebratory party for the children at school from 6pm until 7.30pm.  Finally, there will be a Thanksgiving Mass at Our Lady and All Saints Church on Sunday 23rd June at 10.30am.  The children should come along to Mass wearing their First Holy Communion clothes so that the parish can also celebrate this wonderful occasion with the children and their families.

Bikeability for Years 3 and 5

On Monday and Tuesday of next week, volunteers from the Dudley Road Safety Team, will be working with children in Years 3 and 5 to teach the basic skills they need to ride more confidently and for the older children competently on public roads.  Children in Year 5 will need to bring their bicycles to school on both days, whereas the Year 3 class will be split.  The first fifteen children will take part on Monday and the remainder on Tuesday. Please bring your child's bicycle onto the KS2 playground upon arrival on Monday morning and ensure that they have a helmet and suitable clothing to wear during the sessions. Thank you.

Race for Jude - In memory of Mrs Mooney

Following the sad death of Mrs Mooney, who was our Assistant Head Teacher in 2015, some children voiced how they would like to do something in her memory and it was suggested by a pupil to do a race because of her love of sport. There sprung the idea for a "Race for Jude".

Jude is the son of Mrs Marrey who is a current member of staff. In previous years we have raised an amazing £4030 to help towards Jude's medical expenses and to purchase a specially adapted bath. We would like to increase this amount and this year's Race for Jude will take place on Wednesday 26th June during National School Sport Week. A letter with more information and a sponsorship form has been sent home this week. Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity.

School Games Day (Sports Day) Reminder

This year's National School Sport Week will take place the week commencing Monday 24th June.  Our annual School Games Day (Sports Day) will take place on the Thursday of that week.  EYFS and KS1 will be competing together starting at 9.15am, followed by KS2 at 11am.  There will not be a picnic this year as all events will take place in the morning.  Refreshments will be on sale for parents during the course of the morning organised by our catering staff.  If the event has to be cancelled due to inclement weather, the second date for the School Games Day will be Tuesday 9th July (am).  We are also hoping to offer tennis taster sessions to Years 2 to 4 pupils on Monday 24th June which will be led by Mr Kirk Woodhall from Stourbridge Tennis Club.

Virtues Focus - Intentional and Prophetic

Children in St. Joseph's School are growing to be intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others.

    Prayer of the Week

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

    Pope's Intention for June

That priests, through the modesty and humility of their lives, commit themselves actively to a solidarity with those who are most poor.
