Gospel Reflection

This coming Sunday we celebrate the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul, who did great work for the Church.  Both of these men were Apostles who met with Jesus and were given authority to build Jesus' Church on earth.  Jesus established his Church as a reminder of God's love for all people.  In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples, "Who do you say I am?"  Peter realises the truth about Jesus and professes his faith in Jesus as Christ - the Son of the living God.  Jesus then gives Peter the important task of leading the Church - a duty which is now undertaken by Pope Francis.

School Games Day

We were once again blessed with beautiful weather on Thursday for the 'School Games Day'.       Well done to all our children who displayed the olympic and paralympic values throughout the two events: friendship, excellence, respect, determination, courage, inspiration and equality.  Thank you also to our school staff, Mr Wolfe from RB Gym and Sport and also our Year 6 children for their help in the organisation of the equipment and supporting the younger children too.  There were only 10 points difference between first and second place overall! Congratulations to our winning house, St. Luke, who have now won this annual event two years consecutively. This was a wonderful way to finish our School Sport Week together.

Meet the Teacher Sessions

A reminder that our school transition day will take place next Wednesday (3rd July).  This is an opportunity for parents to meet their child's new class teacher through the 'Meet the Teacher' sessions. There will be three 10 minute sessions starting at 9.15am. This will include a brief overview about the expectations in each class followed by any questions. The children will then spend the afternoon with their new teacher, this also includes our new Reception children too (2pm-3pm). Our new Reception parents will also be meeting with Mr Carry, School Staff, Academy Committee and PTA representatives plus other members from our wider community on the same day at 6.30pm. This meeting will be held in the Reception classroom.

Race for Jude - In memory of Mrs Mooney

Thank you to all our children and their families for supporting this year's 'Race for Jude' sponsored event which took place on Wednesday afternoon.  So far we have raised £722 to support Mrs Marrey's son, Jude, with the vital equipment he needs.  There were two very generous donations from two Reception parents, each giving £140 to this event.  Thank you all for your generosity.

PTA 'Magical' Summer Fayre 2019

Thank you to our School PTA members, parents and staff who supported the Summer Fayre last Saturday.  We were blessed with fantastic weather which helped to encourage so many people to come along and support this event. All the money raised will go back directly into school to support all pupils here at St. Joseph's. Many thanks for your continued support.  Final total to be announced shortly.
