English activities for the week

This week, our story is, 'The Queen's Hat'. I thought it was a good story to link in with our learning on the U.K. Keep your eye on this page as new activities will be added during the week. You do not need to complete all the activities - just do what you can.

See below for Mrs Cangiano's videos.  The first one is an introduction to 'The Queen's Hat' and the second one is the story itself.

19.1.21 The Queen's Hat video no.1 (see below). Mrs Cangiano models how to write a question.

The Queen's Hat video no.2 (see below). Mrs Cangiano models how to write a sentence using alternative words for 'walking'.

Wednesday's English:

'The Queen's Hat' story takes place on a very windy day. Today, we are going to explore the wind and find out more about it so that we will have lots of ideas for writing sentences tomorrow.

Thursday's English

Open the PDF and find a link to Mrs Cangiano's video lesson and activity. There's also a fun (optional) extension task. Today, we are learning how to use exclamation marks and onomatopoeia (noisy words).

Friday's English

Open the PDF to find a link to Mrs Cangiano's video lesson and activity. There's also a fun (optional) extension task. Today, we are learning how to write a sentence with a simile.

Monday's Art Lesson

It's Week 2 of our whole school art project on 'Art from everyday objects'. This week, we are looking at the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Look at the PDF below and follow the link to a short animation where you can find out more about this artist. Then, choose from one of the tasks. All children are focussing on the same artist this week, so you can work together as family.

Monday's P.E.

Follow the links below and choose a high energy, Joe Wicks workout or a gentle yoga session - your choice!

Tuesday's R.E:

We are continuing our work on parables. Click on the PDF below to read the parable of The Lost Sheep. There are three activities to choose from. If you decide to retell the story or make up a puppet show, I'd love to see a video!

Tuesday's PSHE:

Share the story, 'The Monster Surprise' then go through the discussion questions. How could you be a good friend? What could you do? Draw a picture and write a sentence to answer the question.

Wednesday's History - Exploring the World and Beyond - Lesson 3

Start with a quick recap on last week's learning - click on the video link for a quiz. You can jot the answers down on a piece of paper. Then open up Lesson 3 - today we are learning all about Amelia Earhart. She is very similar to Emma Jane...I wonder if you can guess why? There are instructions for a task on the lesson slides plus a few fun things for you to do if you have time.

Click on the link below for a quick quiz:

Friday's History - Exploring the World and Beyond - Lesson 4

Today, we are going to find out about another explorer...Christopher Columbus. Click on the Lesson slides (PDF) below to find a BBC clip and a video of Mrs Cangiano reading about life on board one of his ships. If you can, try one of the activities on the last two slides.

Thursday's Music

Last week we looked at the composer Vivaldi. Today, we are going to learn about a very famous composer called Beethoven. See the files below for some information about Beethoven, a video clip to watch, a quiz and some creative activities. Have fun!(This is a whole school art project - so you can complete these activities with older siblings).
