Please find the work for each day below. You'll find the Maths and English (handwriting, phonics, story based work) at the top and the foundation/afternoon lessons at the bottom. Remember, just do what you can - there is no expectation to complete everything.
I really do love to see what you've been up to so you can send me your work at year1@st-jo-st.dudley.sch.uk.
Have a great week!
Take care,
Mrs Cangiano

Adama and Awa have written to St Joseph's to thank the children for sponsoring them . The money helps to pay for their schooling and uniform. They love their Christmas and birthday gifts too.

English activities for the week
This week, we will continue and complete our learning based around, 'The Queen's Hat'. Mrs Cangiano will bring all your lovely sentences together to make a 'class re-telling' of the story. On Friday, we will make up a new story and use our map making skills to draw a map and a key.
Friday's English
Today, you will be drawing a story map and creating your own (very quick) story based on 'The Queen's Hat'. This time, it'll be a scarf that blows off but you get to decide the main character and the setting. Watch the video lesson and follow the instructions.
Monday's Art Lesson
It's Week 3 of our whole school art project on 'Art from everyday objects'. This week, we are looking at the work of Andy Warhol. Look at the PDF below and follow the link to a short film where you can find out more about this artist. Then, choose from one of the tasks. All children are focussing on the same artist this week, so you can work together as family.

Tuesday's R.E.:
In today's lesson, we will hear the story of The Prodigal Son'. As you watch the animation of the story, think about all the characters - what are they doing? Are they being thoughtful? Kind?Forgiving? Jealous? Does anyone make the wrong choice?
Then, choose 1 of the 4 tasks to complete.
Tuesday's PSHE:
In today's story, a birthday cake disappears! But where does it go? Did somebody steal it? Listen to the story by clicking on the link below then open up the PDF file for some discussion questions.
Wednesday's Geography:
All explorers need a map or some sort of navigating system. Today we are going to learn how to use compass points to plan routes around the London landmarks.
1. Watch the video - What are maps?
2. Go through the teaching slides
3. Have a go at the mapping activities. Good luck!
Friday's Geography:
Today, we will be making our own maps and keys. Choose from the activities below:
Activity 1: Make a map of your garden or playground. If you want to use a template, you can find them in the file below. Click on the 1st video below to find out how.
Activity 2: Make a large street map for your toy cars to drive around. You'll need some large paper for this (e.g.wallpaper, brown parcel paper). Alternatively, you could use chalk and do this on your patio/driveway/playground. Click on the 2nd video below to find out how.
