Other Reading Activities this week

-Ask your child to read a chapter from their home reading book.

-Following this, ask your child to summarise the events from the chapter. They could bullet point what happened, create a comic strip or present the information in their own creative way.

-Encourage your child to note down any unfamiliar words from the chapter they have read. Explore the meanings of these words by using a dictionary.

-Challenge your child to read something around the house that isn't a book. They can then keep a record of all these.

To help you with your Maths work this week, I have put some times table games and songs on Education city :) Have a look at these activities to help you with your learning.

Monday 25th January:

In today's lesson, we will be thinking about friendships and how we treat others. We will be thinking about the choices that we make and the consequences of our actions. Read through the PowerPoint and work through the activities :)

 

This week you will be learning about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

1. Go through the "Find out about Mozart" Slideshow and there is a link to find out even more information! 

2. Then, you need to complete the Creative Response Tasks. 

3. After that, there is a Quiz for you to complete too! 

A busy, musical afternoon for you! Have fun!

P.E. Tuesday 26th January:

To warm up, I have put two links to some different activities to try or you might just like to do your own stretches.

This week, I have put a link to a fitness workout. You might recognise some of the coaches from our PE lessons in school. Watch the video and join in with the different exercises. Remember to take regular rest breaks and have a drink of water nearby :) 

Finally, I have put a link to some kids bop. You might like to use this a cool down or an alternative to the other video clip :)

History Wednesday 27th January

In today's History lesson, you will be exploring the different types of homes that Stone Age people lived in and think about how they changed over time. Read through the PowerPoint and work through the activities :) Have fun designing a Stone Age home :)

Art Thursday 28th January:

Stone Age art: Create your own woolly mammoth like the one in our story using a milk bottle. Follow the instructions on the PowerPoint. 

Have lots of fun :) I would love to see your finished creations. 

Whole school Art activity: 

Over the next few weeks, we will be exploring the work of artists who use very ordinary objects and materials to make exciting and imaginative pieces of artwork.

This week, we're going to take inspiration from American artist, Andy Warhol.

Science Friday 29th January:

In Science this week, we will be thinking about the different types of skeleton. Read through the PowerPoint below and work the activities. I have also put some links to the BBC Bitesize website as there are some really helpful video clips and information :)

For today's French lesson, you will be continuing with our new unit all about musical instruments, 'Les instruments' (Instruments). You will start by learning some of the names for some common musical instruments and how to pronounce them (say them outloud). We will be using the language angels website to help us with our French (the same website that we use in school). 

1)Go to the Language Angels website (link below).

2)Click on 'home learning' and use the following username and Password.

USERNAME: Stjose1970                 PASSWORD: lahome

3)Click on the dashboard at the top and look at the first column ENTRY LEVEL CHALLENGE .

4)Click on Unit 2:Les Instruments and then on Lesson 2.

Have a look at the PowerPoint on the website and listen out for how to pronounce the words. Below, you will find a link to the language angels website, an optional worksheet to complete (you can just draw it onto paper if you can't print) and a vocabulary sheet with all the key words on for this unit.
