Hello Year 2 and Happy Friday!

I'm so proud of all of you and all the hard work you have done this week. I'm sending lots of heart bursts to you all.

Click on the link below to listen to my Friday message. In our learning this morning we will practise the maths skills we have learned this week, think about how to keep money safe and learn how to join sentences using conjunctions. Please also remember to complete the handwriting revision tasks too. Children in RWI groups should complete the activities listed under the RWI blanner.

This afternoon there is a lovely whole school music project for you to look at. It's all about the composer Vivaldi. There's also a short quiz for you to complete.

Our final activity today is to think about our Gospel Virtues for this half term - Grateful and Generous. Have a look at the PDF file and there's a beautiful craft to complete.

At the end of the day, you can listen to two more chapters of 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons'.

I hope you have a great day and a brilliant weekend.

Please take care and stay safe.

Mrs Riley's Friday Morning Message and explanation of today's learning.

Thursday

Good Morning Year 2. Are you ready for another busy day? I think you are.  You are learning superstars and I am so impressed with how hard you are working.

After our morning prayers, I would like you to practise your handwriting. I love seeing how you are remembering to use your new skills in your writing. Well done.

In our Maths lesson we will be finding totals. This is what happens when we go shopping. We have to add up the cost of what we want to buy to find the total. You will need to use your addition skills to help you.

In our English lesson, we will be looking at the present and past tenses and I'd like you to complete a couple of short extercises. You will need to apply what you learned yesterday about verbs to help you complete the tasks.

Children in RWI groups should complete the tasks under the RWI banner below.

This afternoon, I've given you a choice of P.E tasks to complete and I'd also like you to learn about the Baptism of Our Lord by looking at the PDF file and then completing a short written task. There's also a craft activity to complete. I think you'll enjoy it.

Have a great day, Year 2. I'm looking forward to seeing all your work.

Mrs Riley's Thursday Morning Message

Wednesday

Good Morning Year 2. I hope you are all well. Thank you so much for working so hard yesterday. You are all amazing.

As today is Wednesday, we would usually have class meditation. I have put a link to the Wednesday Word below and would like you to take a few moments today to sit with your grown ups to share the stories and prayers on the sheet. Perhaps you could light a candle and play some quiet music too.

Listen to my morning message by clicking the link below.

We have lots of fabulous things to do today beginning with our handwriting lesson. Click on the link below to watch the video and continue to revise our Jumper Family.

Once you have done that, click on the link for my message about today's Maths lesson and then complete the activities in the PDF file. You will be using some maths you learned about last term to compare money totals.

In our English Lesson you will be learning all about verbs and then, this afternoon, we will be thinking about the weather in our Geography activities. I'd also like you to finish the PSHE tasks I set yesterday.

Children in RWI groups should follow the activities listed under the RWI banner.

I've added some links to reading books to this page. Just scroll down to find them. It's really important to keep on reading and I'd really like to hear about your favourite stories. Tell me all about them in your next e-mail.

At the end of the day, there's another chapter of 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' by Andy Shepherd to listen to - you'll find out what happens when Tomas has to leave Flicker at home whilst he is at school! It involves a lot of dragon poo!

Have a great day Year 2!

Hello Year 2. I hope that you are all well. Thank you so much for all your hard work yesterday. You are all superstars.

Children working in RWI groupsshould complete the phonics lessons and carry out the English tasks shown under the RWI banner below.

This afternoon you will look at the story of the Flight to Egypt in our R.E. lesson and write a letter.

I've also added some activities linked to this week's 'Picture News' under our PSHE banner. These activities don't all need to be completed today - you can complete them over the course of the week. If you have brothers or sisters in school they will be compleing similar activities so perhaps you could work together.

Later in the week we will be starting a new project in Geography. You will need an empty plastic bottle to complete the activity. Please ask your grown up to set one aside for you.

I can't wait to see your work, so please send lots of photos to me via our class e-mail address.

Monday

In our lesson today we will learn how choose coins to make a given amount. The aim is to use the least amount of coins to do this. For example, I could use 9 10ps to make 90p but that would be a lot of coins! It would be much better to use 50p and 2 x 20p. Please bear this in mind when you are completing today's tasks. I've explained it all in a short video called 'Note about Monday's Maths' - just click the link below.

I've also added some additional challenge tasks, if you want to complete them. These are optional, which means you don't have to do them. Look out for our Challenge Bot who will show you where they are.

I know that maths about money can be a little tricky, so I've added a PDF of tasks you can try if you're not yet confident with the core tasks. It's called 'Maths Support Pack' and you can find it below. You should use these activities in place of the daily lessons.

You are all amazing mathematicians, so I know you will be able to complete the activities. I can't wait to see your work.

Have fun!
