Dear Parents and Carers

I hope that you are all well. What a busy week it has been in school. Year 2 led us in a quite beautiful Remembrance assembly on Tuesday, and on Wednesday we were joined by Mr Chater and Mrs Gallagher for an inspiring assembly informing us of the work of HCPT, who are a local charity raising funds for life-changing pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes, France, for children and adults with a range of needs.

Yesterday the school joined in a non-uniform day and so far have raised over £150. There is still time to donate if you have not been able to yet. Below are some brief updates and let us hope for a brighter weekend after the deluge of rain over the last few days!

St Joseph’s School Video!

We are delighted to share with you the final video of our school that was filmed last month. I hope that you are as proud of the final version as we are! A number of photographs were taken during filming, some of which you may have noticed in recent newsletters – with more to share soon. Please do share the new video far and wide and show just how proud we are of our wonderful school!

Attendance

A very nasty virus has really impacted on our attendance in school over the last two weeks. I hope that the children are now feeling better and over the worst of this and we see an upturn in our attendance back to our usual excellent standard next week.

Inset Days

Please note that a further inset day has been added. As a Multi-Academy Company, Emmaus is able to use a 6th inset day for staff development and formation.

The inset days for the rest of the academic year are as follows:

  • Friday 26th June

  • Friday 17th July – new date

  • Monday 20th July

As such, school will close for pupils for the summer break on Thursday 16th July at 3:15pm.

Maths Week England 2025

15-23 November

This year's theme is 'Connection or Coincidence?'

Maths Week England: 17th November to 21st November

As the name suggests, Maths Week is a week-long celebration of all things maths. Some perceive maths as being a little bit elitist (that is, being only for extremely clever people)! Maths Week sets out to encourage children to pursue maths by promoting a more positive and inclusive approach.

If you use maths as part of your career in any way, we would love to hear about it and even better, if you would like to come into school to chat to our classes, please let Mrs Hickman know! It doesn’t matter what your job is, as long as you can talk about the type of maths you use.

Gifts from God

The following children have received a certificate in today’s Gifts from God assembly. Well done children!
