Monday 1st Feb: Spring Block 3 - Fractions
Today we are beginning a new block in maths, learning all about fractions.
You will explore how a fraction is made up of a numerator and a denominator. You will also revisit unit and non-unit fractions.

In English today, we are going to begin a new topic, 'Amazing Aliens'.
You will begin by finding out all about the alien species. Read through the information carefully and then listen to the audio version.
You are going to explore some new vocaculary and then make your own 'alien words' using compound words and then write definitions for your new words.

In English today, you are going to read the original information text about the aliens again. This time make a note of any unfamiliar words. Once you have found a definition for these words, you are going to put them into sentences. Try to use engaging and extended sentences.

Friday 5th February: Equivalent Fractions
Today you will be exploring equivalent fractions, these are fractions that have an equal value even though the numerators and denominators are different.

For our final lesson this week, you are going to become an interviewer. Firstly you will need to create an alien and describe it's features and what it can do! Then you will write five questions for your own alien that you created and write a script of your interview, your questions and your alien guest's responses. Finally you are going to role-play your interview with someone in your family - whoever is the most alien like!
