Today you will be adding fractions. Remember we only add the numerator NOT the denominator. When making the whole, the numerators must all add up to total the denominator.

This week in English we are going to be exploring information texts through the theme of musical instruments. This links really well with our science topic, 'sound' and our D+T topic,'designing and making an instrument'.

Today you are going to begin by exploring how instruments make sounds and how each of the different groups of instruments work. You will be making an information poster at the end of the lesson, so make sure you take notes as you go along!

In English today, we are going to focus on grammar. You will be recalling and practicing using subordinate conjunctions to connect the main clause and the subordinate clause in a sentence. We will be using these in our work throughout the week.

Today in RE, we will be learning about the traditions and meaning of Lent. You will begin by exploring the story of 'The Temptations of Jesus in the Wilderness' and how this links to Lent. Click on the link below.

Today in PE, you are going to be doing, Cosmic Kids Yoga - Minecraft Theme 🎮.

Yoga is a great way to relax and also strengthen your inner core. Have fun!

Remember to warm up your body and stretch your muscles. Have a drink of water nearby.

I hope you are all well and you are having a good week. Unfortunately we are having some technical issues and the morning video will not upload. 

I hope you have all had your invite to our teams meeting tomorrow, I am really excited to catch up with you all and I have a game and a mini-figure quiz, which I hope you will enjoy.

You will need a fork, knife and spoon for one of our games.

Today you are going to be learning all about drums, beginning by thinking about your existing knowledge and what you would like to find out. You will read through the information text and watch the video clips to discover more and bring alive what you have learnt from the text. Why not have a go at making your own set of drums too, I look forward to seeing your performances!

Why Study History?

This term we are going to be studying history, with a new topic 'The vikings and Anglo-Saxons'. Today you will be learning about the Viking raids in Britain and producing a timeline of events.

This half term you are going to design and make a home made musical instrument. In English and science we are also exploring instruments and how they make sound. These other subjects will help you gather a more technical understanding of sound and different instruments which will help in your design.

Today you are going to explore different instruments to help you decide what type of instrument you wish to make. You will be making a booklet to show the processes you have used throughout the project. Starting today by designing a front cover.

Thursday 25th February: Fractions 

Today you will continuing practising subtracting fractions.

Today you are going to begin by exploring the features used in information texts. You will then identify some'generalisers' from the text, words that are general and not specific. For example 'that boy' is specifically talking about that one boy, 'Most' boys is talking about a general group.

Technical language is used when learning about a specific topic, you will find 5 technical words from the text and write the definitions for them, using a dictionary, or the internet if you do not have a dictionary. Finally complete the comprehension, writing out the questions and answering in full sentences. Check your work, is it neat, do you have punctuation and have you referred back to the text?

Today in art, you are going to explore the work of American born, Typographer, Paula Scher. She has created some incredible art from using words, experimenting with different styles and using words in a unique way. I really love her work on maps!

Friday 25th February: Fractions

For our final lesson this week and for information texts, you are going to begin by recalling conjunctions. You will then make a leaflet all about drums, using the checklist to ensure you have included all the features of information texts in your work.

In science this half term, we are going to explore 'Sound'. You will begin today by finding out what sound is and exploring vibration. You will conduct a simple experiment and then explore sounds around your homes.

For today's French lesson you are going to begin a new topic, As-Tu Un Animal? (Do you have a pet?). 

Work throught the slides to begin with, practicing the pronunciation of the french words for pets. Then complete the worksheet (you can choose from the 3 different levels). If you cannot print the sheet off, just write the answers on your paper.
